Key Advantages
Though this section is certainly not all inclusive, there are certain key advantages the FBS provides for different clients, that are worthy of highlight.
Advantages for Smaller Governments
Affordable Subsea Capabilities: Unlike the United States Military, most governments cannot (or could not) afford any real degree of subsea capability, given the procurement costs and support expenses of a “blue water” submarine, which has been their only option. But now, the FBS can offer an affordable alternative (at least for shallow water applications), capable of providing a government with a substantial degree of nearshore deterrence and other capabilities. It is worthy to note that nearly 30 FBS platforms could be procured, and deployed (providing a simultaneous range of functions) for the same cost as that of a single Dolphin Class diesel electric submarine.
Oil and Gas Service Providers
Though they are not aware of it yet, the FBS has resolved most, if not all, of the insurance provider concerns related to using manned systems. With over 80% of all oil and gas infrastructure positioned in less than 500 feet of water, the FBS can relieve the demand on existing Work Class ROV’s (and support vessel systems) in these shallower waters, allowing them to be used more exclusively in deep waters. To some degree, this may preclude the need for oil and gas service providers to build additional ships and systems.
Tourist Sub Operators
Unlike the large tourist subs, the FBS doesn’t require an expensive shoreside facility (and employees) to be supported. It’s base of operation can be any dock or beach. This represents a significant reduction in overhead and thereby significantly reduces the booking rate needed to be profitable. The FBS also recharges its own dive-air and battery packs going both to and from the dive site which eliminates the down-time currently required to recharge batteries. By eliminating these impediments, a single FBS could be highly profitable operating in any location that has a tourist arrival rate of 40,000 annually; thereby opening up many smaller markets around the globe.
Private Owners
The Hyper-Sub FBS doesn’t require a large ‘mothership’ and separate crew simply to be used. It is first and foremost a speedboat, so you can enjoy it all the time. Whether lounging on its rear and upper decks or enjoying its comfortable air conditioned cabin while cruising about, the FBS will turn heads wherever it goes. It can be berthed at your personal dock, yacht club, or marina. So, you wont need to be on your yacht and in the well deck to enjoy it.
